The SANTA MARÍA DE LA ALAMEDA Intensive Fishing Reserve is located northwest of the Community of Madrid, in the town of the same name, bordering the province of Ávila.
The preserve manages, in a consortium with the Community of Madrid, three fishing stretches, one on the Cofio river and two on the Aceña river.
The section of the Cofio river has an approximate length of 5 kilometers upstream from the point of union with the Aceña river in the area known as "Las Juntas". It is a small mountain river very comfortable to fish with boards and small rapids, in the heart of a magnificent pine forest.
The Aceña river consists of three sections, with a total length of about 7 kilometers:

Section I, which runs from the dam wall of the La Aceña reservoir to the bridge of the M-535, which remains closed throughout the year.
Section II, that goes from that same bridge, 3 kilometers downstream.
Section III, that goes from the bridge of the M-954, 2 kilometers upstream, until it joins section II and another 2 kilometers downstream until it joins the Cofio river in the place known as "Las Juntas".
It is a river that is nourished, above all, by the leaks that occur in the wall of the La Aceña dam, so that even in the summer months it maintains a reasonable flow that makes fishing possible. In it we can find some wells of a certain depth in which trout take refuge in the hottest months, as well as rapids and shallow rakes. Its three sections are very entertaining to fish, in a solitary and wild setting where we can enjoy the presence of roe deer and wild boars as well as countless birds of prey of different species.
