The El Villar reservoir, with an extension of 144 hectares and a capacity of 23 cubic hectometers, is located in the lower course of the Lozoya River, in the municipalities of Puentes Viejas and Mangirón. It is the oldest in operation in the entire region, since it was built in 1882, and the entire Canal II reservoir system. After the inauguration of the Pontoon de la Oliva, which was never fully operational due to water leaks, the Canal de Isabel II commissioned a new dam upstream, some 50 meters below an old bridge called El Villar (which owes its name to a missing town). Although its priority use is supply and electricity generation, sport fishing is an important tourist attraction for the area.

In its waters we will be able to find barbels, bogas, carps and crucian carp and we will be able to fish them throughout the year if we have a valid fishing license.
